Nowadays, technology devices are one of the most crucial things in our daily lives. Some people even say that they can’t live without them. While it’s true that the internet provides abundant advantages for us, I have to agree that there are still many problems that can occur because of it, including in terms of control and security information. Today, the internet has become unavoidable in our daily life. The Internet is rapidly becoming part of the fabric of our lives, not only in advanced societies but in the main activities and dominant social groups in most of the world. The right use of the internet makes our life easier, faster, and more effective. The internet helps us with information, knowledge, entertainment, and social and economic development. Thus, the Internet is the appropriate tool for networking, and for self-directed, horizontal communication. I do agree that while the internet provides abundant advantages, the problems in terms of control and security information are still being cautious by some people.
The internet also has its own advantages and disadvantages. These days internet comes up with some better solutions and innovations. In this positive development, the disadvantage of internet also appears to be more advanced than before. In entertainment industry, the internet serves us online games, online movies, online music player, and hundred things that keep us entertained. But behind it, we also served with pornography, ages inappropriate content, internet addiction, and time waste content. In this covid-19 era, we can see significant progress on education. Schools are online and thanks to the internet, the students can freely access online web course, online search engine, online education platform, and can feel the equity in education. But everything has their own two polar sides. Online education also brings some negative sides to the students, such as plagiarism, social network distraction, and inaccurate information. Early age students haven’t known the effects of copy and paste, and it can be fatal. Let me explain it further in the following paragraphs. Let me begin with the advantages. First of all, the internet can help us with money problems. We can start making money using social media, and then we can manage them using internet banking or e-wallet application. Secondly, we can access many entertainment platforms from anywhere at any time. Watch movies, playing games, or browsing through e-commerce applications for some online shopping. Next is, we can find enormous reference sources for our study or work material. Just type, and you will get what you need in no time. Another major advantage is we can work from home thanks to the internet, updating things via social media or e-mail to get everything done.
However, using the internet also has its own risk. One of them is privacy issues. Anyone can be vulnerable to personal data leak, hacking, and cybercrime. Cyber-bullying among social media users is also one of the problems that often happened. Furthermore, many people are sharing fake news, sending spam, even link with viruses. For parents, they are frequently worried that their children might found inappropriate content like pornography or violence when browsing the internet. And last but not least, using too much internet also can cause an addiction that leads to sleeping problems and even compulsive shopping.
Even though there are some negative sides the internet can have, we are still blessed with its presence. We can see the most update news with our mobile phone and our laptop or computer screen. Within just a click we can see what’s going up on another side of the planet. Still the internet also brings hoaxes the same speed as it can bring the information. Hoaxes is one of the serious problems that we’re facing right now. There’s nothing we can do to stop these inaccurate information, but we can search for its accuracy first before believing it. As well as business industry, people used to be facing one another to bought things and the advertisement cost a lot of money. Now, the internet helps small business to grow with creating immersive content, reduced expenses, and targeted advertising that creating more clients and customers. Yet, however good advertisements one business can create, online business also has its negative sides on credibility, bad customer service, lack of interaction, company misrepresentation, and market saturation.
So, what can we do to avoid all the problems and the risks? The most important thing is we shouldn't share passwords or any personal data with anyone. Next is to install an antivirus on every device we use, and do back up for important data regularly to avoid any loss.I believe we must assist children when they are using the internet, and don't forget to use reliable sources when searching for any material. To avoid addiction, we have to set a self-discipline target, deciding the limit and deadline for everything.
To sum up, the internet has its advantages and disadvantages. The internet helps us to save more time but can be such a time waster. It depends on how we’re using it and how we’re facing it as we live in this millennial era. If we can’t avoid it, then we have to look for a way to live together side by side. To conclude, the internet has both advantages and problems. So, it is important to use it wisely. If we can't avoid the internet then find a way to live with it.
